Dr. Ruben Amarasingham is a physician, scientist, entrepreneur, and the founder and CEO of Pieces, a healthcare AI R&D firm that specializes in clinical generative AI and machine learning solutions to support and augment clinical teams. Dr. Amarasingham is a national expert in health services research and informatics to support clinical quality improvement. He has won $50 million in scientific grants and 5 patents in these areas. Dr. Amarasingham practiced medicine as an academic hospitalist for 13 years and was named by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2012 as one of 10 young leaders who are likely to change American healthcare. He was also honored by the Texas House and Senate in 2013 for his contributions to healthcare in Texas. Prior to his role as CEO of Pieces, Dr. Amarasingham was Associate Chief of Medicine at Parkland Health & Hospital System, Founder of the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation, a non-profit research institute in Dallas, and an Associate Professor in the departments of General Internal Medicine, Clinical Sciences and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center.
