Rony Abovitz is the Founder and CEO of SynthBee, Inc., a new deeptech AI startup focused on building safe, scalable, and reliable computing intelligence to amplify human innovation. He co-founded MAKO Surgical, a world leader in surgical robotics that went public in 2008 and was acquired in 2013 by Stryker Corp for $1.65 billion. In addition, he founded Magic Leap, Inc., a world leader in spatial computing/XR technologies in 2011. Magic Leap has developed one of the world’s leading spatial computing/XR systems. The flagship system, the Magic Leap 2, recently won the IF Gold Design Award and the Red Dot Gold Design Award, and was named Best In Show at the AWE 2022. Rony also founded Sun and Thunder, a creative studio focusing on film, music, animation, and Storyworlds. Sun and Thunder produced its first animated short film, Yellow Dove Aftermath, which has toured film festivals around the world, winning awards for best animation, sound, music, and visuals. Rony is also a Senior Advisor at the Boston Consulting Group, where he has advised and guided start-ups, growth-tech companies, and Fortune 100 leaders in the areas of technology, innovation, disruption, growth, and overall strategy. Rony is a graduate of the University of Miami, with degrees in mechanical and biomedical engineering. He plays guitar and bass.
