Major General Paula C. Lodi serves as the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) and Director of Research and Development for the Defense Health Agency. She assumed command in July 2024. A native of Franklin, Massachusetts, MG Lodi commissioned into the Medical Service Corps as a Distinguished Military Graduate of Rutgers University ROTC. Her early career included medical and logistics roles in the 3rd Infantry Division, Germany, and 4th Infantry Division, Texas, where she served as Ambulance Platoon Leader, Battalion S1/S4, Brigade S4, and Company Commander. MG Lodi has commanded at multiple levels, including the 15th Sustainment Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 14th Combat Support Hospital, 44th Medical Brigade, Regional Health Command – Atlantic, and 18th Theater Medical Command. As a General Officer, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations for the Office of the Surgeon General and U.S. Army Medical Command, and Deputy Commanding General (Support), U.S. Army Medical Command. Her awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and others. She is a recipient of the Dr. Mary E. Walker and St. Joan D'Arc Awards and is inducted into the Order of Military Medical Merit. MG Lodi holds master’s degrees in public administration, military arts and science, and national security and strategic studies. Her deployment experience includes Iraq and humanitarian operations.
