James Upson

James Upson is a distinguished leader in national security and defense technology, a retired Green Beret, and the CEO of Archaius, Inc., a company specializing in advanced electronic protection technologies for critical wireless systems worldwide. James dedicated 24 years to the U.S. military, leading and operating in Special Operations and Intelligence units across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. His last assignment was as a Program Director for USSOCOM’s Joint Task Force - Special Reconnaissance Enabling Command, stationed at MacDill AFB in Florida, where he managed complex, high-stakes missions and joint force integration. After retiring from the military, James joined Stony Lonesome Group as a Defense Fellow. He then transitioned to Aeon, an innovative, venture-backed defense startup, as Chief Strategy Officer, where he shaped strategic priorities and expanded the company's presence in the defense market. Later, he became a venture partner at Stony Lonesome Group, focusing on investments in national security and first-response care technology. James is a devoted husband and father, an enthusiastic sports fan, and a dedicated advocate for veterans' welfare.
