Jackson Hwu is a Partner in the Venture Technology & Growth group of Dentons. Based in Miami, Florida, he advises clients on corporate matters, VC financing transactions, M&A, and securities matters. A native of Brazil, Jackson combines his broad international experience at major global New York, Chicago and Miami-based firms and legal departments in Brazil and the US to provide practical advice to his clients. Jackson advises high-potential start-up and emerging growth companies, founders and VC funds in corporate structuring, VC financing rounds, M&A, board matters and exits. As outside general counsel to many emerging companies, he counsels these clients on all legal aspects of their operations, including corporate, tax, data privacy, IP licensing and protection, industry regulations, commercial contracts and partnerships, employment and labor, executive compensation, and litigation. He also advises international companies to establish their operations in the US market. Jackson represents fund managers, sponsors, and investment groups in establishing venture capital funds (onshore and offshore), real estate private funds and club deal investment vehicles. Additionally, Jackson counsels international high-net-worth individuals and family offices doing business and investments in the U.S. and Latin America. Jackson is a mentor to several accelerators and incubators in Miami and is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French and has intermediate knowledge of Italian. He is admitted to practice in Florida and New York.
