Dr. Tamir Wolf

Dr. Tamir Wolf is a physician turned health tech entrepreneur. He earned his MD, PhD at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. He was a Lieutenant commander in the Israeli Navy SEALs, where he served as the Head of the Unit’s Medical Branch. Dr. Wolf is a recipient of the Medal of Distinguished Service for combat valor, treating his wounded teammates under fire. Following his tenure in special ops, Dr. Wolf completed executive business education at Harvard Business School and has since been immersed in health tech, and in 2018, transitioned to a different kind of theater… Dr. Wolf founded Theator from a very personal place - when his wife and boss both went in for the same appendectomy surgery at different hospitals in NYC, and each came out with a completely different outcome. His wife was home and recovering 12 hours after stepping into the ER. In contrast, his boss remained in the hospital for weeks and almost died. While the hospitals were only seven miles apart, the approach to treatment was worlds apart. One procedure, two patients, two very different outcomes. Turns out, this is not an isolated experience. There is significant variability in surgical outcomes today—not only in different parts of the world but even within the US. The unbearable reality is that where you live still determines if you live. Hell-bent on redefining surgical care, Dr. Wolf co-founded Theator.
