Dr. Matt Swanson

Dr. Matt Swanson serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of SelectFlorida, Florida’s international commerce agency. He leads the state’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment, support Florida-based companies, and strengthen Florida’s global economic competitiveness, providing strategic direction for business development and international partnerships. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Florida Department of Commerce, overseeing more than 1,500 employees and a multi-billion-dollar budget while advancing operational efficiency and key reforms. He also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Enterprise Florida, where he helped implement H.B. 5 and the transition to SelectFlorida. Earlier in his career, Dr. Swanson held senior leadership roles in higher education and healthcare, including positions at Jacksonville University and Fletcher Technical Community College. He holds a B.S. in Business Management, an MBA, and a Doctor of Business Administration, and resides in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife, Emily.
