David Lubarsky is the Vice Chancellor of Human Health Sciences and CEO of UC Davis Health. UC Davis Health is an integrated health system with 20,000 employees, 1,000 students, 1,000 trainees, 1,300 faculty members and a large regional primary care network, providing 1.5 million-plus outpatient visits every year. Dr. Lubarsky has increased UC Davis Health’s revenues by more than 50%, to nearly $5 billion a year, since arriving in July 2018. He has been recognized as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Health Care” by Modern Healthcare, among the “100 Academic Medical Center CEOs to Know” and “60 Health System Influencers” by Becker's Hospital Review (both in 2023), as “CEO of the Year” by Press Ganey in 2022, and by the Sacramento Business Journal in 2021 as a “Most Admired CEO.” Dr. Lubarsky oversees multiple top 50-ranked entities – UC Davis School of Medicine, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, UC Davis Medical Center, and the UC Davis Children’s Hospital. UC Davis Medical Center is a 684-bed Level 1 Trauma Center that is consistently ranked among the nation’s best by US News & World Report and Becker’s Hospital Review, and it is Sacramento’s No. 1 hospital. Dr. Lubarsky has focused UC Davis Health’s efforts to invest in its surrounding local and traditionally underserved community through an Anchor Institution Mission, aimed at greater community health, neighborhood revitalization, and individual well-being. A committed academic physician, Dr. Lubarsky is a UC Davis professor of anesthesiology and nursing, a faculty member in the UC Davis Graduate School of Management Graduate Group, and a national expert on behavioral economics in health incentive systems, pharmacoeconomics, health policy, and simulation-based optimization of high acuity, high resource use in hospitals.
