Charlie Messina is Professor of Horticultural Sciences at the University of Florida and Director of the UF/IFAS Crop Transformation Center. He earned his PhD at UF and previously worked in industry on drought-tolerant maize. His program integrates genetic improvement and AI to advance environmental regeneration, human nutrition, and climate adaptation, leading transdisciplinary teams to develop predictive methods and deliver improved cultivars and practical solutions.
