Charles J. Bruce, M.B., Ch.B., is a consultant in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Dr. Bruce is chief innovation officer at the Florida campus and medical director of the Mayo Clinic Berg Innovation Exchange in Florida. In addition, he is an associate medical director in the Department of Development. He joined the staff of Mayo Clinic in 2001 and holds the academic rank of professor of medicine, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Bruce completed his medical studies as well as an internship and residency in internal medicine at Groote Schuur Hospital, University of Cape Town, South Africa. He subsequently completed a residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in cardiology at Mayo Clinic and was a Mayo Foundation Scholar. Dr. Bruce’s early research interests centered on exploring applications for a novel ultrasound tipped catheter developed at Mayo Clinic; current and future cardiovascular applications of ultrasound technology; and clinical cardiovascular research employing novel ultrasound technology. Currently he is working on development and integration of novel sensor technologies and applying artificial intelligence to sensed data to create digital fingerprints of diseases as well as developing a novel at-home dermatology AI diagnostic platform.
