Brigadier Stu Nassé was commissioned into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1997. An Aeronautical Engineering graduate of Loughborough University, he has held operational roles in aviation and uncrewed units throughout his career, and was in fact the first British Army aircraft engineer dedicated to UAS in 2003. Operationally, he has deployed on numerous to the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, and has recently spent a significant amount of time in Eastern Europe addressing the challenges of the Ukraine War. Whilst principally an Aircraft Engineer, his career has also seen varied roles including Deputy Chief-of-Staff for 7 Armoured Brigade (the Desert Rats), Army-level operational design, Army Strategy, and has latterly specialised in Rapid Acquisition. In his current role he commands the Drone Capability Coalition, coordinating 20 nation’s support to the Unmanned Systems Force of Ukraine, as well as designing the UK’s Uncrewed Systems Centre in response to the lessons learned from contemporary operations globally. Married with three teenage children, he is passionate about horses, rugby, and the art of creating outstanding cocktails.
