Ben Riestra

Benjamin J. Riestra, MHA, MBA, served as the Chief Operating Officer of the GW Medical Faculty Associates, George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In this role, Riestra oversees all administrative, operational, and clinical functions of the organization and is also responsible for growth, strategic planning and future infrastructure planning for the clinical enterprise – aligned with the future goals of the George Washington University. Prior to serving as the COO at GW MFA, Riestra served as the Chief Ambulatory Operations Executive of UHealth, the University of Miami Health System and Chief Administrative Officer of The Lennar Foundation Medical Center, UHealth,. In this role, Riestra oversaw the expansion and network development of the ambulatory clinical enterprise as well as the planning and successful opening of the Lennar Foundation Medical Center, in 2016 - a facility that serves as the home to several of the nation’s most revered specialty centers, including the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. In addition, Riestra and his team built the medical center to best serve the Miami community by offering its patients individualized care for cardiology, a comprehensive diabetes center, imaging services, mammography, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, outpatient surgery (endocrine, colorectal, plastic, vascular, surgical oncology), physical therapy, pain management, primary care, sports medicine, urology, and women’s and men’s health/wellness centers. He served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the global healthcare consulting firm, Mitchell Planning Associates, prior to taking on a leadership role at UHealth. Riestra is a three-time graduate of the University of Miami – earning his undergraduate, MBA, and MHA at the school. He currently resides in Bethesda, MD, with his wife Marisa and his three children.
