Alejandro D. González is the Executive Director of The Idea Center, the hub for entrepreneurship and innovation at Miami Dade College and a proud member of the Blackstone LaunchPad network. He leads a team of 10+ people who create programs to develop entrepreneurial skills among students and employees at the College and connect small business owners with the resources they need to grow their businesses. The Idea Center serves 4,000+ people each year across eight campuses at the largest higher education institution in the country. Prior to this role in higher ed, Alejandro led growth and partnership efforts for digital media startups, including launching Cuba’s first independent digital media platform. He has also served as policy director for a local United Way chapter advocating for changes to state and federal policies that benefited working class families in South Florida. He began his career as a consultant crafting market expansion strategies for leading U.S. companies and institutions expanding their business into Latin America. Alejandro holds an M.A. in International Development and Policy from The University of Chicago and a B.S. in International Politics from Georgetown University. He volunteers his time at his local Catholic parish facilitating retreats on Jesuit spirituality.
