The Power of the Creative Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Miami is the second most entrepreneurial city in the United States, culturally engaged and considered one of the most avant-garde in the world. The Creative Economy -what the IDB calls Orange Economy- has an impact of $ 547 billion worldwide. For Miami Dade-County it represents $ 1.1 billion dollars. There is no doubt this economy plays a key role in innovation and has an important economic impact. Miami is the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, and the knowledge and talent transfer is relevant to empower the Americas.

The Orange Economy is definitely a solution to job creation. Worldwide this industry created more than 29.5 million in 2012. In Latin America, it generated 1.9 million jobs in 2015, comparable to the jobs generated by Uruguay or Costa Rica.
One of our greatest challenges is investing in talent and continuing investing in creative entrepreneurship. We believe in including the Orange Economy, with a focus on creative entrepreneurship, in the agenda. This could represent a great opportunity to give more visibility to these industries and to talk about their economic and social impact.
