U.S. Congressman (FL-09)
Congressman Darren Soto represents Central Florida’s 9th District. He serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Natural Resources Committee. The first Floridian of Puerto Rican descent to serve in Congress, he’s also a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Last Congress during just his first term, Rep. Soto passed four major bills to increase hurricane preparedness, hold foreign offshore oil drillers accountable, protect marine life like sharks and marlins, and to honor our veterans. He’s also brought millions in federal funding back to his Florida district for hurricane disaster relief, high tech higher paying jobs, SunRail and local airports, to protect seniors and veterans, and to preserve our environment.
For over a decade Soto served in the Florida Legislature, where he fought to increase access to higher education, and ensure clean water, land, and air for his constituents. Soto passed landmark legislation protecting families of fallen firefighters, giving victims of sexual assault more time to report their attackers, and allowing Dreamers to be admitted to the Florida Bar.
