Felipe Feng

Prof. Philip Feng (Ph.D., Caltech 2007) is the Wally Rhines Endowed Professor in Quantum Engineering at University of Florida (UF). A Professor in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and in Department of Physics, he is leading the UF Quantum Initiative. His multidisciplinary research group is focused on exploring emerging solid-state devices and engineering them into energy-efficient signal transducers in both classical & quantum regimes. The group is strongly focused on resonant NEMS/MEMS and optomechanical systems, especially those made of advanced semiconductors (SiC, Al(Sc)N, GaN, Ga2O3), 2D materials & heterostructures, as well as their heterogeneous integration with state-of-the-art CMOS and photonic technologies. He has mentored 18 PhD students to graduation, supervised 15 MS students with research projects, and many undergraduates. His research & education endeavors have been recognized by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Frontiers of Engineering Award, the NSF CAREER Award, the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists & Engineers (PECASE), School of Engineering Graduate Teaching Award, Glennan Fellowship, UF ECE Research Excellence Award, UF ECE Service Excellence Award, etc. A nominee for CWRU’s John S. Diekhoff Award for Distinguished Graduate Student Mentoring, he was also honored by the Division of Engineering Leadership & Professional Practice for “Dedication, Support and Commitment to Programs for the Success of Students.
