Dr. Ramim has over 28 years of experience in both the healthcare and information technology fields. She was fortunate to serve in various roles across the medical insurance industry, nursing home and assistant living facility industry, information technology industry, and academia. Dr. Ramim has extensive experience in large-scale system integration, and data architecture, as well as cybersecurity and data privacy curriculum development, teaching, and research. Her research focuses on investigating applied health informatics issues related to wearable medical devices, cybersecurity and systems implementation, data privacy and ethics, risk assessment, as well as information security governance. Recently, Dr. Ramim has been working on research about threats to wearable and implantable medical devices. Dr. Ramim published over 36 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings over the past 19 years with nearly 700 citations. Moreover, she actively develops curricula and teaches courses in the areas of health informatics: security of wearable medical devices, healthcare system analysis and design, healthcare data privacy and ethics, compliance and information systems audit, artificial intelligence, information security governance, as well as cybersecurity operation management. Her recent grant related to wearable medical devices security and privacy was funded by the National Security Agency.
