From Startup to Strategic: Navigating the Dual-Use Tech Pivot for National Security
Uso dual + tecnología de defensa | eGOV | Emprendimiento + Escalamiento | Inversión + Financiación
Cyrus Miryekta provides strategic advice to innovators, VCs, and a non-profit with a focus on counterintelligence. Cyrus Miryekta serves as the CEO of Ravelin US, a small national security advisory firm focused on fortifying America’s innovation backbone through threat identification and mitigation. In the last 12 months Ravelin’s work has generated policy from the White House debarring a massive foreign conglomerate to protect a US innovator and the nuclear triad, removing adversarial funds from five startups, expelling four infiltrators, and saving a CEO from hostile takeover by a foreign tech transfer agent. Cyrus also sits on the advisory board of five companies and has ensured their strategic longevity. Cyrus is plank holder at DIU from its inception to 2021, and established the counterintelligence programs for AFWERX, SPACEWERX, and USAF Innovation and he directly supported innovation programs from Space Missile and Systems Center(then Space Systems Center). He broke a 70-year run of USG counterintelligence “support” via fiat, instead leveraging American virtues of trust, patriotism, and openness to establish a whole-of-country approach to preserving technology while disrupting threats. Cyrus served as a USAF and USSF counterintelligence agent for 12 years, eight of which were in Silicon Valley fortifying pre-seed startups to Fortune 50 companies, FPGA design houses, Space and AI innovators, VCs, and universities. During this time, he earned an unprecedented nine National Intelligence Awards for his work with innovators that had a quantifiable impact of over $100bn. His work was codified in the CFIUS Risk Review Modernization Act. In 2004, as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, Cyrus was decorated for actions under fire and for saving a civilian in Fallujah. He has been assigned to numerous task forces in the US and abroad, attached to the 19th Group and others, and has worked with and trained several foreign intelligence services. Cyrus earned an MA in Statecraft and National Security from the Institute of World Politics, a BA in Political Science and Government from California State University, a Certificate for Space Business Leadership and Policy from Arizona State University, and several government mil-space courses from The National Security Space Institute, and is also published on Hezbollah in South America.
