Eric “Tubby” Shwedo serves as the Associate Vice President for UCF for Federal Relations. Mr. Shwedo is the key conduit on all issues related to Congress and federal agencies. In this capacity, he works to strengthen UCF’s strategic impact with key research and policy thought leaders. Tubby spent more than five years in the Office of the Secretary of Defense working with Congress and federal agencies, serving as Director of House Affairs, Legislative Director for Special Operations, Strategic Communications Director for the DoD COVID-19 Task Force, and as the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Tubby Shwedo came to UCF from MacDill Air Force Base, where he was the Chief of Staff for Special Operations Command Central. He concluded a 31-year military career as a U.S. Army Green Beret in Fall of 2023. He was commissioned out of UCF and served in multiple Special Operations units, to include 3rd Special Forces Group, 20th Special Forces Group, the U.S. Army Special Warfare Center, Special Operations Command Central, and U.S. Special Operations Command. During his career, he went on nine combat deployments. Mr. Shwedo received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from UCF. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College (MS, Strategic Studies) and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
