
William Malamud
American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic - AMCHAMDR
Mr. Malamud joined the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic in February of 1998. As Executive Vice President reporting to the Board of Directors, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of one of the largest business organizations in the Dominican Republic, representing 1,650 member firms. Under his leadership, AMCHAMDR has focused on connecting member firms with business opportunities, and the promotion of public policies conducive to trade and investment.

From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Malamud served on the board of directors of the Bolsa de Valores de la Republica Dominicana, the local securities exchange.
Post- 9/11, working closely with the US Embassy and Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Malamud led the successful effort to form a local chapter of the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC), a private, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing supply chain security. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors.
From August 1991 to January 1998, Mr. Malamud worked at SPC International, Inc., in Arlington, VA. As Director for Project Development, his primary focus was on the identification and commercialization of innovative technologies. His client base included Israel’s leading research institution, as well as startup companies in the biotechnology and materials sciences sectors. Mr. Malamud also carried out Government Affairs work for his clients and for SPC International’s parent company, System Planning Corporation, a multi-disciplinary high technology engineering firm, servicing the defense and intelligence communities.
From 1988 to 1991, Mr. Malamud was Director of International Programs at the National Association of State Development Agencies (NASDA) in Washington, D.C. NASDA’s core members are the state Secretaries of Commerce from around the U.S. Mr. Malamud was responsible for providing technical assistance to NASDA’s membership in Trade Development and Investment Promotion, as well as advocacy with the Federal Government on trade and investment issues.
From 1987 to 1988 Mr. Malamud was Associate Director for Intergovernmental Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Commerce of the United States in Washington, D.C. Mr. Malamud was responsible for coordinating the Department of Commerce’s positions on trade and investment issues relating to state and local governments.
Mr. Malamud received a B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1981, and a Master of Business Administration in International Management from Thunderbird in Phoenix, Arizona in 1986. He is married to Yasmin Redondo Malamud, with whom he has two children, Marielle and John.
