Sarah Kopit

Sarah Kopit is editor-in-chief for The Block, the go-to source for news and research about digital assets. As editor-in-chief, Sarah oversees all editorial content produced by The Block’s global team of crypto-native journalists.

A veteran of Bloomberg News and former practicing attorney, Kopit has helped global newsrooms utilize cutting-edge technology and information sources to improve the speed and accuracy of their reporting.

Prior to The Block, Kopit was Bloomberg’s first-ever social media czar, responsible for designing ways to utilize social media and artificial intelligence to detect and gather breaking news, while filtering out mis and disinformation. She implemented global policies and procedures that helped reporters identify potential news-making events and make real-time decisions, while monitoring and analyzing information in a fast-paced environment.

Earlier, as Breaking News Managing Editor for the Americas, Kopit led a team of reporters that wrote “this-just-in” stories for Bloomberg Terminal subscribers using traditional journalistic strategies, algorithmic systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. She also was part of the team that spearheaded Bloomberg’s incorporation of real-time data from social media platforms, such as Twitter and Weibo, for news gathering and reporting.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and Brooklyn Law School, Kopit is a member of the New York State bar and lives in Brooklyn, NY with her family.
