
Qingda Yang

Dr. Qingda Yang is a Professor and the Interim Chair of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Miami. Prior to joining the University of Miami, Dr. Yang worked for Rockwell Science Center as a solid mechanics scientist (2000-2006) where he worked extensively with Boeing engineers in developing the 787 airplanes. Dr. Yang’s recent research has focused on developing multi-scale methodologies that can lead to realistic virtual testing and designing of complex heterogeneous materials and structures under general and extreme thermal-mechanical loading environments. He is an author/coauthor of more than 100 journal publications. He was a past Chair of the Composite and Heterogeneous Materials Committee in ASME (2010-2012). He is currently serving as an editorial board member for three professional journals.
