Manager, U.S. and Latin America, Ford Motor Company Fund
Joe Ávila has a career that spans corporate social responsibility, international business, multicultural marketing, and supply chain. As a Manager at Ford Motor Company Fund, he directs and oversees Ford’s strategic partnerships with key organizations and corporate initiatives nationally and internationally. He also leads Hispanic investments nationally, as well as the global expansion of signature programs throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, especially surrounding social mobility programs and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Avila works closely with local and global nonprofits to provide disaster relief support in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico. He was at the center of the Ford Fund disaster relief after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, working with over ten committed nonprofit partners for the donation of multiple vehicles to assist with relief efforts, by providing immediate needs as well as long-term assistance including educational programs, and health-related workshops. Joe has also been an important part of Ford’s overall efforts in disaster relief in Houston after Hurricane Harvey, where more than 30 vehicles were donated, among other assistance; in Florida after Hurricane Irma; during earthquakes in Mexico and more recently in Puerto Rico.
Prior to joining Ford, Ávila worked at MillerCoors, Molson Coors and Coors Brewing Company, where he managed multicultural relations, corporate social responsibility and marketing programs. Ávila was also instrumental in building the global procurement strategy during the Molson Coors merger.
Ávila serves on the board of directors at the Smithsonian Latino Center, Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) and SER Jobs for Progress National. He is also a corporate board advisor for national organizations, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and UnidosUS. Additionally, he served as Chair of CNC’s Corporate Board Advisors and LULAC’s Corporate Alliance. In 2008, Ávila received the (Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever Award) for “Hispanics Under 40” by the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR). He is also part of HACR’s Corporate Executive Forum.
Ávila was selected among prominent Hispanic leaders representing various disciplines and industries in the U.S. to participate in the Hispanic Leaders Program in Spain. The fellowship program, sponsored by the Spanish Government and Fundación Carolina, offers in-depth access to learn about Spain and its mutual interests with the global community.
