Universidad de los Andes
Rector Navas was born in Bogotá in 1950. He is an industrial engineer from Cornell University and holds an MBA from Universidad de los Andes. He was member of Uniandes´ Board of Trustees since 1983, becoming its Vice President and President for several times between 1997 and 2003. He is currently the Rector of Universidad de los Andes, position he was elected to perform since June 2011.
Throughout his professional career, Rector Navas has performed as Vice Rector of the Colegio San Carlos in Bogotá, founding member of Colegio los Nogales, Manager of the Asociacion Alianza Educativa, Manager of Productos Lácteos la Campiña and as the President to the Global Education Group Colombia. He has been a member to numerous executive boards, among them, Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá and Fundación Mario Santo Domingo.
He is the author of the book The Journey of Frederic Edwin Church through Colombia and Ecuador, April-October 1853 (2008), and accomplished the academic edition and compilation of the piece Colombia en Le Tour du Monde (2013).
