Damian J. Thorman, Esq., is Vice-President and Chief Innovation Officer for Miami Dade College – the largest institution of higher education in the United States. Damian leads the college’s work to design a more innovation-friendly organizational environment. He is also responsible for generating leading edge programs and ways of doing business.
Most recently Damian led the White House Social Innovation Fund, a $200 million annual fund charged with identifying early stage transformative social innovation programs in the United States and providing them with the infrastructure necessary to take them to scale.
Damian has spent decades infusing innovation into all three branches of government where he held senior leadership positions in each branch of government. He was a senior policy and political advisor to U.S. Congressman Bill Richardson and a professional staff member for the U.S. House Education Committee he led committee work on several multi-billion pieces of legislation. He also was an associate prosecutor and deputy director of Jackson County Missouri where he led reinvented the prosecutor’s office.
He has a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and an MBA from Rockhurst College.
